Our Final Year — The Frat Party

Tags—( mc—md—mf—cb—ex )

Chapter 1

Nathen, a senior in college, declines a suspicious party invitation from his lazy rascal of a classmate. But things spiral out of control when it turns out the party was just a ruse to enact some sweet and petty revenge involving his mother and sister.

Nathen pushed his dorm room door open with more physical exertion than he intended. After spending more than half of his already long day in the campus Library studying, he was all but ready to call it quits for the night, and the clock had yet to strike 6 pm.

He was moments away—And by moments, that means a single day—from starting his senior year. That’s just one school year away from saying bye-bye to Brook Arch Academy and its fine college campus life. It was a pleasant time, all things considered. But he couldn’t wait to move onto a higher education environment. His eyes set on landing at Ivy League School for Medical Arts.

With sights set that high, Nathen had to work hard and study harder. Some tend to grow lax during their final years, but it’s quite the opposite for our current protagonist. Fluking when so close to the finish line is a deep-seated fear for Nathen, which is why it would be hard-pressed for anyone to catch him not completing his assignments ahead of schedule.

Today he studied for much longer than most would possibly say was needed. The pre-semester exam all students would have to take isn’t graded in the slightest; the intent is to accurately pinpoint how much knowledge was kept between semesters and rightly how much was lost.

So while it could be argued that there’s no need to over excel in this exam, Professors love to see that their work has paid off, meaning acing this test would get a secured spot in his professor’s good books.

That is worth all the hours spent redigesting previously learned information.

His bookbag collapsed onto the rough carpeted floor. Nathen breathed out a sigh and slumped onto a fold-out chair. A light Chime pinged from the phone in his pocket, signaling a received text. He ignored the notification for a few seconds as he leaned forward and unzipped the seal on his bag.

The sound of dirty paper crinkled between his fingers. And he leaned back upon his chair and eyed the mail he had picked up as he passed by his P.O. Box.

Sigh

Bills

Bills

An Add

Bills

“Jesus,” He whispered. “I’m not even done with college, and I have all these fucking bills.”

“Nathen Green, we are impressed by your work and would love to have YOU join our institute in the coming year.”

His eyes rolled on their own, “Thanks, but no thanks.” Dropping the stack of mail onto the floor, he noticed one milky blue envelope sticking out from his bag. It must’ve slipped out from the rest of his male.

The male stood up from everything else he had, so curiosity bit him hard enough to pick it up. But upon opening the sealed envelope, Nathen audibly groaned with regret upon what he saw.

“Dear Nathen.

I would first like to start off by apologizing for my past actions and anything that might have caused bad blood between us. You and I are both skilled in our class and responsible enough to know that any petty complications we might have are nothing but that. Petty. It’s insignificant in the grand scheme of things, and I would hate to keep this animosity going as we begin our final year together as colleagues.

For this reason, I would like to formally invite you to my frat party to kick off the year right. If you are against this proposal, that is completely fine, but I want to make it clear that you are entirely welcome to attend, and I hope that this can be used to sew our relationship back to relatively reasonable terms.

From, Caleb.”

Nathen narrowed his eyes as he scanned the card.

Does Caleb think he’s an idiot? It wouldn’t be new for that stuck up know-it-all to consider anyone else as below him intellectually speaking.

This is obviously a ploy. Some way for Caleb to get back at him; it’s just, why the hell would Caleb think he’d fall for something so painfully apparent.

Never once had Nathen’s hot-headed classmate made an effort to make amends. And now, after the shit that happened and the end of last semester, he wants to “patch things up?”

It doesn’t make sense, and he should be smart enough to see that.

In fact, he is smart enough. Calebs probably one of the few people in his class to be smarter than Nathen.

What pisses Nathen off even more about the guy is that while he spends hours on end studying for some finals, Caleb will put in no effort and pass the same test with similar to better results than Nathen’s!

So no, there’s no way Caleb would wish to make amends. And even if he did, Nathen wouldn’t accept it. Not after the stunt he pulled...

Cue the flashback baby.

* * *

Caleb’s yawn echoed and bounced throughout the spacious room. Everyone seated around him who heard knew he had passed out during class yet again.

For almost anyone else, that would be a sign of apparent disinterest. And it was, yet for some reason, he’s allowed to get away with it because he always scores the best among his peers.

How does the man who can’t seem to take his career seriously manage to perform so well in all academics? That’s a mystery Nathen couldn’t care enough to delve into.

Caleb isn’t worth it, long story short.

Everyone Nathen has ever lamented to about his argent, rash, duchy, and surprisingly intelligent rival, has told him to ignore the guy and not let him affect his life.

His professor.

His roommate.

His own mother.

They’ve all said the same thing.

So that’s what he’s going to do. Caleb’s snores won’t bother him anymore.

“I’m really starting to wonder if he’s cheating.” The girl next to Nathen whispered in his ear.

The sudden breath tickled his skin.

Glancing over, he spotted his roommate leaning to her side as she spoke softly. Her cute pale white face was just a few feet away from his own. The clear thin-framed glasses she had on slid down the bridge of her nose.

Her name’s Lacey; the two of them met during their first years on campus and decided it would be nice to share a dorm room for the semesters following. They both have similar interests and futures planned, and if it weren’t for Caleb’s presence, the two of them would be at the top of their class without a doubt.

Nathen offered her a half-smile as he stared into her bright eyes. She was cute, in a smart girl way. She had snowy blonde hair that transitioned perfectly with her pale white skin, which was void of any blemishes.

Well, there was a tiny birthmark in the form of a black dot on her right breast, if that counts as a blemish.

How does he know of this?

By some magical stroke of luck, they’ve grown comfortable with each other. So much so that they’ve gotten to the point where Lacey had asked for his opinions on personal matters, such as if her push up bra displayed her cleavage sufficiently. She has a modest B-Cup-sized bosom; the bra was to emphasize her chest. Though Nathen didn’t think that was necessary, she’s cute enough as is.

But he’s a straight warm-blooded male, with an average-sized dick, so what does he know?

“He’s always asleep... or playing some game... or... or just doing anything other than paying attention!” Her tone of voice grew in intensity while still staying hushed enough not to gather attention.

“What happened to ‘just ignore the guy’?” Nathen replied. He had one arm resting on the table that held his laptop and discarded bag, while his other arm was keeping up his resting head.

“Hey,” Lacy shrugged. “We’re almost done associating with him, so I’m trying to discover his secrets.”

Nathen wrapped his fingers around the cold plastic bottle of water on his desk. “Good luck.” He gurgled through the liquid.

“I’m a woman of science.” Her blue eyes sparkled.

“Well, you certainly are a woman of something.” Admitted Nathen with a smirk on his face.

That prompted a jab at his side from Lacey’s elbow as she held his same grinning expression.

Rubbing the side of his chest, Nathen chuckled. “I don’t know how he manages to get by. But it won’t matter once we’re out of here.”

Lacey’s small lips parted to speak. But nothing came out as her blue eyes darted forward, and she drew to an attentive hush.

Dr. Cox had shifted the subject of discussion over to something the two hadn’t remembered being brought up previously, so they had resumed absorbing her words.

The professor was a good woman and a better teacher. The way she manages to instruct, be formally presentable, and friendly to all of the class that is more or less around her own age was remarkable. She had total command of the room, but never at one point did it come off as overbearing. During each lecture she taught her class, she kept the tension low and informed everyone of any tricks that might help them succeed to the best of their ability.

Really, she would be perfect in Nathen’s eyes if she put her foot down and called Caleb out for his total lack of respect for her or the rest of the class that he displays on a constant basis.

The attractive black-haired professor might be pleasant to a fault. Though, It’s odd; she won’t allow others to show signs of disinterest in her class while Caleb does what he’s doing now and faces no reproductions. It doesn’t add up how one person is allowed to skirt the system while everyone else seems to be on thinner ice.

Nathen added it up to being because of Caleb’s exceptionally high performance and signs of knowledge when he does choose to show that he’s not a complete idiot. Even still, Nathen does quite well himself, perhaps second to only Caleb and Lacey, compared to the rest of the class.

But things don’t work the same for him. He showed up late once and got some type of an earful because of it, while Caleb appeared twenty minutes after, looking completely shitfaced, and received nothing more than a nod from the professor.

Things aren’t adding up... But they also aren’t worth stressing over in the long run.

Soon enough, Caleb will be out of his life forever and picture as a whole. The only thing Nathen can do about it now is to wait out the storm.

Wait.

Wait..

Wait...

Waiting indefinitely isn’t something that most can acclaim to do or have done. And eventually, the time came for the lecture’s completion and subsequent dismissal for the day. Everyone filed out, bid their temporary farewells, and “good lucks” before heading out.

The next day would serve as the semester’s final lecture; the pressure was on to score well on the scheduled exam.

Nathen was sure he’d do well. He had been studying enough to warrant that level of mental security. Now that didn’t mean he could afford to lay back, especially when he’s this close to a legitimate break over the winter.

Lacey exited the lecture lab with him and waved goodbye as they parted ways. He made his way through the clean campus halls and glossy tiled floors until he reached the carpeted flooring of the school’s library.

Nathen breathed in the cold, stale air of studying minds.

There began the next four to five to six to eight hours of his day; the exact specifics of how long he stayed are still up in the air. All that was known to Nathen was that by the time his quiet watch chimed a tiny diddle, the bright, yet somehow dim, lights of the library were the only things shining into the darkened sky.

The yawn that escaped Nathen’s mouth was the cue that he had better make it back to his dorm room, as hours of studying would do him shit if he overslept and attempted the exam on a half-asleep brain.

He exited the library a quarter to seven. With it being the middle of winter, the sun had already set by this time. While the library obviously wasn’t the only source of light left in the school, the illumination situated throughout the halls was dim to the point where other students would know now isn’t the time to daddle.

Though, a few students were doing just that, dawdling as some would say. Well, It was only a couple, a couple of couples. Two, if you aren’t sure how many are in a couple.

That was a fair amount considering the time. Nathen nodded and passed by them both on his way out of the school.

Something caught his attention just as he turned the corner that led towards the building’s entrance.

It was Caleb.

On instinct, Nathen halted and took a step back around the corner he had just rounded. Bumping into a classmate shouldn’t and usually wouldn’t be cause for alarm. Though in this instance, that was far from the case.

Caleb is the foolish party type of guy, lackadaisically speaking. He never NEVER spends the time to study late into the day and is rarely seen on campus any more than he is needed to be for the bare minimum.

Unless the guy just now found it in him to actually study for once for the coming exam. There would be no reason for Caleb to be here so late.

Caleb approached the double doors that opened into the lab.

But Dr. Cox always locked the room after hours; unless Caleb intended to do no more than look through the small windows built into the doors, there’s no real reason to approach the lab in the first place.

He couldn’t get in so-

Click

Caleb unlocked the leftmost door, causing Nathen’s jaw to drop silently.

Nathen took a quick step behind the corner as Caleb took the time to observe his surroundings before entering the lab.

Taking a few seconds to gather his thoughts, Nathen took a sigh and decided to break the one rule he had followed throughout the year.

He stopped ignoring Caleb.

Fist clenched—Nathen fast-walked towards the now open lab door. What Caleb was doing wouldn’t and shouldn’t be any of his business. But the guy should not have the keys to that room, and breaking into the lab—the one entire class uses—makes this his business.

“What are you—” Nathen paused mid-sentence and performed a quick sidestep upon noticing what was going on inside the lab.

Caleb had a drawstring bag with the college’s logo placed proudly on the surface. He looked to be in a rush and failed to notice Nathen’s cut-off outburst.

To the total surprise of Nathen, Caleb was hurriedly fumbling around the room, grabbing sealed vials and lab equipment to shove into his bag.

He’s stealing random assortments of chemicals that didn’t appear to mesh together. But regardless, he’s stealing from the school. Entering the lab after hours is prohibited on its own, but taking lab equipment and the school’s property for one’s personal use is on an entirely separate level.

Nathen blinked as he stood to the side of the unlocked door.

A thought crossed his mind.

This is his chance.

To actually do something about his Caleb problem.

The guy has been a lazy, smug pain in his side for as long as he could remember. Everyone has told him to ignore the guy; his mother, sister, friends, roommate, and hell, he even preached about keeping Caleb out of his mind.

But maybe now would be the best time to break that rule.

Ousting Caleb here and now for stealing from the college could be the final nail in the coffin... He could be discharged from the program and finally get his comeuppance. And there’s no way Caleb could wiggle his way out of this one.

* * *

Fuck

He wiggled his way out of this one.

“You two need to settle your differences because this is ridiculous.” The official Dean of Students, a well-dressed Asian woman, sighed. “You both are exceptional students who know how strict an offense stealing from our school would be.”

The woman, who was probably in her early forties or late thirties (the fact that her age was up in the air was a testament to how well she managed to present herself as appearing young.)

“Settle our differences?!” Nathen exclaimed. “I saw him with my two fuc- freaking eyes! He stole a bunch of lab equipment!”

“Now... Why would he do that?” The Dean questioned. She lightly scratched at the bridge of her nose while leaning back in her office chair.

“Yeah,” Caleb frowned. “Why would I do that?” He had his brow raised.

Nathen matched Caleb with his own raised brow.

“He’s trying to make me come across as the crazy one.”

Caleb retorted. “Because you are! I wouldn’t risk my future just to steal a few fucking chemicals.”

The woman shot her right eye open and quirked a brow towards Caleb upon hearing his brash, vulgar use of language; though, she didn’t say anything.

“Okay.” Nathen addressed the Dean. “So are you saying that just because it doesn’t seem likely, it’s not possible? I’ve never done anything like this in the past, so why would I make up something now?”

“It is possible.” The Dean tapped her chin. Her voice stayed calm and collected in the face of what could be career-ending allegations. “But very unlikely, I contacted Dr. Cox, and she claims that both her primary key and reserve key never left her possession.”

Caleb smirked.

“But—” Nathen began.

“The only other person on campus to have a key to that room...” The Dean paused her sentence and reached for a drawer behind her desk. “Is me...” Nathen gulped upon noticing the way her large breasts, which pressed tightly against the material of her black blouse, mashed into the tabletop. She certainly was a voluptuous woman, that went without saying despite her attempts to restrict her figure from prying eyes.

Nathen gulped and shook his head slightly. He tried to keep any perverted thoughts he might have to a minimum, especially in situations such as these, where his respect for authority might clash with any inappropriate ideas.

The Dean pulled the desk drawer out and fumbled inside it; her hand shuffled through an assortment of scattered papers.

After a few seconds, she leaned back up and brought up a keychain that held a collection of keys.

“But—” Nathen started.

The Asain woman sighed. “So, it is VERY unlikely that Caleb was able to enter the lab after hours to do what you claimed he has done.”

“I saw him with a key. I swear on my life!” Nathen insisted.

“This guy...” Caleb rolled his eyes, “How did I get a key then smart stuff? Are you saying Dr. Cox lied? After all the great lengths she has gone to help us over the years? Fucking moron...”

“Mr. Thorton!” The Dean snapped with her eyes boring into Caleb. “Verbal abuse, such as what you just said, is strictly against—”

Nathen reacted before thinking and didn’t realize he cut the Dean off mid-sentence. Instead, he gave Caleb a suspicious and spiteful glare. “Yes, all the amazing lectures you have managed to sleep through.”

The Dean had a hand on the bridge of her nose. Her brow furrowed. She let them argue for a full minute before she finally spoke up, having heard enough of the two’s dispute.

“Enough!”

Caleb and Nathen stiffened and looked over to the woman behind the desk.

“We will perform an investigation. Go over camera footage, check for missing items... the like, but right now, you’re causing my blood pressure to rise to an unhealthy degree. So you two are dismissed.”

The two exited the Dean’s office, and the door closed quietly behind them.

They walked down the hall, staying silent the entire way. The only sound being heard was the echo of heels colliding against the glossy floor.

Nathen kept his gaze set on the exit, not wanting to look towards the guy who somehow managed to slither through his punishment. At least for the time being, once the security cameras are reviewed, and effort is put into action. Caleb will have no out insight.

As they walked, Nathen felt Caleb’s hard spiteful glare through the corner of his eye. But he ignored the look of hate. He went back to ignoring the problem walking beside him as he always did.

But this time, ignoring him would end up getting the job done.

In a few days, Caleb will be out of here.

* * *

New flash and or Spoiler Alert

The job was not done. Caleb was still fucking here.

It made absolutely no fucking sense. An investigation certainly took place; the camera footage was reviewed. The results came up empty, with no proof of Caleb entering the lab after hours or even a video recording of Nathen watching it happen.

No items were detected missing. Dr. Cox had checked that herself.

Everything was set up to show me as the liar who tried to get my “smarter” and “more successful” classmate removed.

I was given a warning, which was a lucky break on my part as false claims are held high enough to the point where many can and have been expelled by it.

Caleb was set off scot-free and was actually put in a better situation than he was before. People saw him as the poor person who was accused and almost had his life ruined by a random jealous prick who wanted nothing but to see him fail.

So yes, this final year is going to be a bit awkward of a reunion for Nathen.

Though It was nice that he still had a few people on his side, Lacey believed him wholeheartedly and was just as baffled by how Caleb managed to get out of that situation.

She was there to support Nathen in figuring out how or what Caleb could have done to botch the camera footage or replace the stolen items. Though, eventually, the two decided to take the loss and put it behind them as Nathen was already walking on thin ice.

The door behind Nathen clicked open. Thus, ending his flashback on past events as reality came crashing back into the forefront.

“Hey-hey..” Lacey greeted through a yawn. Her snowy hair was a mess across her shoulder. “Bye-bye.” Her heavy eyes sparkled with a familiar twinkle despite her tired state.

“Off to sleep?” Nathen had put aside the letter from Caleb that prompted his internal flashback.

“Yeah finally!” The exacerbated Lacey half yelled. She paused on her trek past him towards her miniature room. “That’s my last freaking student, no more tutoring for me.” She turned to face her roommate as she conversed. Her shoulders shifted and her arms retreated down into the unbuttoned jacket she wore over her pink tank top. “Jesus, it’s so...” Lacey’s voice trailed off as she noticed the letter Nathen left on the desk beside him.

Nathen had found that his eyes trailed naturally to Lacey’s revealed body after she removed her jacket. Her small breasts pressed into the material enough to show the outline of her bra beneath.

“What is this?”

Nathen blinked and blushed as he believed Lacey’s outburst was due to his unintentional leering. But following the trail from her blue eyes led him to Caleb’s letter.

“Oh, that’s—” Nathen wasn’t able to fully finish his sentence before Lacey approached him with her slender legs and snagged the letter to read its contents herself. “Uhhh...”

Lacey’s tiered eyes were fueled with some form of emotional energy whilst she scanned the paper in her hands.

A few silent seconds later, Lacey brought the letter down and gave her roommate a stare almost as cold as her white-blond hair.

“You’re not going.”

“Yeah,” Nathen agreed. “I’m not.”

Lacey looked at him in silence, her eyes narrowed. “Mmhm... This is what you were reading when I got in. It looked like you were thinking it over.”

“Oh no, I wasn’t.”

“Don’t.” She said blankly. “You’re on thin ice, and that jerk holds grudges. He’s probably planning something to get you dismissed.”

“I know! I know!” Nathen sighed. “You’re telling me things I am already aware of.”

“I’m just doing my part.” Lacey held eye contact with Nathen as she tossed the letter back onto the desk. “And this isn’t just about you.” She took a deep breath, and her chest pushed against the neckline of her pink tank top, revealing a slight hint of cleavage. “We’ve been bunking for so long I don’t want to get a new roommate for my last fucking year, so you’re not allowed to leave me.”

“Heheh..” Chucked Nathen before he gulped. “I’m not going anywhere.” Lacey stared at him. “Especially not that party. Besides, I have plans with my family that day, so we’re already booked.”

“Oooh,” Lacey raised a brow. “So when do I get to meet the parents?”
